Ms. Franzese (formerly Ms. Greene) was born in Paris, France, grew up in Connecticut, attended NYU and Fordham University, began teaching in Atlanta (shout out ATL!), and finally found MESA in 2014! She is very passionate about learning: about others' stories, new skills, and all the learning in the MESA community. She was MESA's first Spanish teacher and, understandably, loves learning different languages, connection, and communication. Her other loves include basketball, football, her dog Maverick, frozen cherries, and discovering music playlists. When she is not at MESA, you can find her listening to music (especially J.Cole), reading (she's going for 50 books this year!) or training for the NYC marathon 2021.
Ms. Rawles was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. After high school, she attended Xavier University in New Orleans where she earned her BA in political science and then attended Loyola University of New Orleans to obtain her MS in criminal justice. Before joining MESA, she successfully maintained a substantial role in education through her operations career at networks such as KIPP New Orleans, New West Charter High in Los Angeles, and Teach For America Metro Atlanta. Ms. Rawles came to MESA with a love for Brooklyn and educational equity. Ms. Rawles has been at MESA for 4 years and has now moved in the role of School Director.
